Foundation Woes!

It feels like I've tried every possible foundation or tint that Sephora carries.  Dior, Nars, Tarte, MUFE, Smashbox, Too Faced, YSL, Lorac, Stila.... Clinique, Urban Decay, Philosophy, and it goes on and on... countless drugstore brands all failures as well.

Here are ones I have on my "to try" list... does anyone have experience with any of them?

1.  Shiseido

2.  Laura Mercier Silk Creme  (I have tried the oil free one)

3.  Lancome Teint Idole Ultra

4.  Illamasqua (I may have tried this before)

Or anything else??  It does not have to be from Sephora at all, these are just the few I could come up with right now.  Thanks!

  1. I have tried Lancome Teint Idole Ultra and really loved it. If you're after a lightweight yet medium coverage product that mattifies then it's the foundation for you.

Also remember testing Shiseido's Dual Balancing foundation but didn't think anything of it. Was kind of 'meh' about it.

  2. I don't remember seeing you post anything about this one, and I'm a bit nervous to say, because, what if you hate it!? But, surprisingly, I really like Cover Girl Natureluxe foundations. I use 320 in aspen. I hardly wear foundations, but I got a sample of this in a magazine and was pleasantly surprised. It felt nice on my skin, and I felt like it gave my face a nice, smooth look. It also has a slighly pinky undertone (I think?) But I thought it was a nice natural looking, non-orangey color. Anyway, it's $10-12, so I guess it's worth a shot even if you hate it, right?

  3. I've heard Sephora will give out samples. It looks like you spend some money there, ask for samples of the foundations you haven't tried yet. Save yourself some money girl. The ones that don't work you might need to have a blog sale, get that money back LOL!!!

I haven't been using foundation, just a tinted moisturizer but it does lask the coverage I like - so I end up puuting some pressed powder over... When I do use foundation I use Revlon Colorstay for Dry skin and I think its ok but not great...

  4. @Miss A thank you thats very helpful!
@karen unfortunately I had a bad reaction from CG- I think it might be that product :(
@FoxyAries great idea, only I live like three hours from Sephora no kidding! I might have a blog sale soon, I just tend to throw stuff in the garbage after it pisses me off lol

  5. I won't be much help in answering your question in this post, but I'm sorry that you've had such a horrible time finding the right foundation. I've had a similar experience before until I walked into Sephora and tried the MUFE HD one. It's the only foundation that's ever worked for me among the countless drugstore and high end brands of tried. I hope you find what works for you soon!!

  6. What are you looking for in a foundation? What don't you like about the ones you tried?? Does it have to be liquid/cream? Or do you like cream to powder/powder?

I like the MUFE HD too. It looks natural and provides a good amount of coverage. Doesn't feel heavy/cakey. It's oil free too and they have an amazing array of colors for all undertones and most skin colors.

Face Atelier also has a really nice foundation range. They look very natural/light on. You can order samples for $1. It's also oil free but it's silicone base so it does have that slippery feel.

If you don't mind to try powder. I love Cargo HD. They don't have a good color selection though and it will need about a good half hour to set/sink in and not look powdery (if you are heavy handed with it)You could also do a light dusting and won't have that powdery look but less coverage I say medium coverage but can be built to full. When I use this one I get the most complements from strangers saying I have great skin. Ha! (Jane Iredale amazing base is also similar, but it's mineral base and sometimes casts that white look in pictures and might look a bit glowy)
